Time flies when you’re having fun!

February 11, 2010 at 11:05 pm

Between finding a job, school work, crafting and a side project of mine I’m keeping very very busy!

I finally found a job/got a job today – which is an immense weight off my shoulders! I start on February 22, so I’m trying to get as much school work out of the way as possible so I don’t feel overwhelmed! All of my classes are online this semester so that definitely helps.

Craft wise, I finally taught myself to Crochet. I’ve been pretty much crocheting everyday! Now I just need to learn how to make hats, so that I’m stylish for cheap every winter!

Anyway, I’m going to stop this incoherent blog post and write again soon!

Later!

Pattern Fail

January 26, 2010 at 10:32 pm

Well I tried to spend today working on a Style School project – the skecthbook cover.

Unfortunately, I like to do things off the top of my head instead of following instructions. The cover came out great, but of course my sketchbook didn’t end up fitting inside!
It’s back to the drawing board for me on this project – but now I know for next time. Follow. Instructions!

I think it was just one of those days. I wound a new bobbin with some pink thread, and when I put it inside the sewing machine, I guess I didn’t put it in all the way because it jammed and there was a whole ton of knotted up thread inside the bobbin mechanism. Not fun. This happened to me twice, I think it’s because I’m not connecting the needle and the bobbin thread properly.

I managed to finish my studio apron, and aside from nothing being straight – I think it turned out pretty good considering it was my first time EVER using a sewing machine.

I need to invest in thread that actually matches my fabric! Using black on the pink was a bad idea, especially since I can’t sew. Matching thread would definitely hide my lopsided sewing.

Welcome 2010!

I still can’t believe it’s 2010 – I’m not entirely sure where 2009 went but I’m kind of glad it’s over!

I have a few cakes to post – one that I didn’t even take a picture of but it was so cute!
All of my Wilton courses are complete! Next I’m taking a class on gum paste flowers – which is pretty exciting.

Speaking of cakes – I guess I should mention Christmas!
I got a KitchenAid stand mixer, and it is absolutely awesome. Baking and making icing is SOOOOOOO much easier. I just throw everything in and I can do other things at the same time.

I also got a Yudu machine (which I haven’t used yet – but I don’t know what to make first!), and a Cricut machine!
The BF got me a DSi, a Chapters gift card (which I bought SEVEN books with), some new headphones (only one ear in my current ones were working), and a couple other things.

I’ve been spending the majority of my time lately in bed – I got sick JUST before New Years Eve and I haven’t had much energy to do anything. Luckily I really have nothing to do!

NYE was fun – just a low key house party. I got to decorate and make a cake! Two things I love doing =)

Anyway – I’m off to watch more How I Met Your Mother (best show ever.), I’ll be back to post 2010 goals and some other fun things!

Bookstores are dangerous!

November 8, 2009 at 10:35 pm

Everytime I go into a bookstore – I end up walking out with some sort of craft book. I just HAVE to share the book I found today because it combines two of my favourite things…Crafts and Blogging! Awesome!

The book is called Blogging for Bliss and is basically about taking your creativity and transforming it into a successful blog.
It contains 50+ other blogs to check out as well as some helpful tips. I haven’t started reading it yet as I spent the weekend being very unproductive and I’m making up for it now!

I’m excited to get some inspiration and to also check out all of the other blogs listed in the book. I love finding new things to read.

Speaking of things to read – I really need to find an alternative to google reader. I have so many blogs I read on a daily basis but I feel terrible reading and never commenting. The only reason I don’t comment is because it’s such a hassle to read the blog through Google Reader and then have to navigate to the post in order to comment. If anyone has suggestions that would be great – maybe there’s a greasemonkey script??

I’m off to do more work! I’ve made it through 8 straight days of blogging! Wahooo!

The craft lair is uderway!

November 5, 2009 at 11:54 pm

I spent most of my day today getting things going in my craft room.

So far I’ve got up blinds and curtains, I’ve moved some things downstairs, I bought myself a little sewing table and some chairs from IKEA.

Tomorrow I’m hoping to put together my bookcase and bring down the rest of my things. After that I need to organize, organize, organize!

I’ll be sure to post some pictures when it’s all done (and looking JUST the way I want it to).

On a completely unrelated note… As I’m typing this on my iPhone I can hear something rattling. Not entirely sure what it is, but it’s driving me bonkers!

I’m off to get some sleep, I’ve got work to catch up on tomorrow as well as putting together furniture :)
